RELEASE NOTES | MTCONNECT

(6/20/2026)

On Saturday June 20th 2026 we released an updated version of our IIoT device driver that allows data output from machines with MTConnect Adapters to OPC UA, MTConnect and/or SQL Databases with major enhancements. We also released a new version of our MTConnect program for analysis of MTConnect Adapter data with additional features.

MTCCLIENT.DLL 9.0.0.0 (6/20/2026)

Major problems addressed by this version:

  • Problem: Machine shows up as connected but does not send data
  • Solution: The driver now enables to define a maximum number of unsuccessful heartbeat (= ping) requests after which it automatically reconnects to the machine.

  • Problem: Tons of items are acquired that are not needed
  • Solution: The machine INI file now automatically creates a list of input tag names that allows to enable or disable acquisition of specific tag name/value pairs

  • Problem: Adapters from different machines output different tag names for identical items (e.g. ‘path_feedrate’ or ‘p1fact’ for feed rate)
  • Solution: Input tag names can now simply be translated to standardized, comparable output tag names for different machines

The device driver enables to automatically create a list of valid tag names and types (Events, Samples or Conditions) suitable for various controllers. Valid tag names and types for unknown devices can be extracted by our MTConnect GUI program.

MTCONNECT.EXE 9.0.0.0 (6/20/2026)

  • Provides real time monitoring of MTConnect Adapters output including Timestamps, Events, Samples and Conditions
  • Enables analysis, automatic extraction and export of all MTConnect Tags output by any MTConnect Adapter including tag name and type, event, sample or condition
  • Enables sending commands to MTConnect Adapters and remote control of machines connected to CNCnetPDM
  • Allows to include / exclude output of heartbeat communication (ping -> pong) and definition of intervals for sending heartbeat commands to controllers

(4/15/2025)

We released an updated version of our CNCnetPDM MTConnect IIoT device driver for machines equipped with MTConnect Adapters with several new features and enhancements.

MTCCLIENT.DLL 8.0.0.2 (4/15/2025)

For condition tags the device driver now is able to output 5 elements:

  1. Level (normal, warning, fault or unavailable)
  2. Native code
  3. Native severity
  4. Qualifier and
  5. Text

according to Part 3 of the MTConnect Standard (in previous versions output was limited to ‘Level’). To enable detection of conditions the driver automatically adds entry ‘Condition tags’ to section [MTC TAG NAMES] of each machine specific INI file (e.g. mtcclient_1000.ini). Condition tag entries are created with reasonable default values for specific controllers.

  • Stream data input from devices can now be up to 2047 characters long per packet instead of 1023 in previous versions.
  • Invalid input from stream data sent by devices is now automatically stripped out f.i. value for tag name ‘maintcheck’ from Mazak CNCs can be > 3000(!) characters long.

  • For release notes on the CNCnetPDM MTConnect Adapter module please see CNCnetPDM Release Notes.

(11/19/2023)

We released an updated version of our CNCnetPDM IIoT Adapter for machines equipped with MTConnect Adapters that adds new features and enhances compatibility with MS Windows 11 and Server 2022 Operating Systems (up to version 23H2).

MTCCLIENT.DLL 8.0.0.0 (11/19/2023)

(9/26/2022)

We released an updated version of our device driver for machines equipped with MTConnect Adapters that fixes issues and adds additional configuration options.

MTCCLIENT.DLL 7.0.0.5 (9/26/2022)

Problem: Some MTConnect Adapters occasionally output new ITEM|VALUE data blocks within milliseconds. This creates an enormous amount of simultaneous reading events in CNCnetPDM that impact performance or, with multiple machines, lead to restarts of the service. Solution: The updated driver allows to limit reading events performed by CNCnetPDM to one per second while still collecting data packets even if received in such fast intervals.

(3/22/2021)

An updated version of our device driver with extended functions and enhanced device support for controllers equipped with an MTConnect Adapter, either built-in or on a separate PC was released

MTCCLIENT.DLL 7.0.0.4 (3/22/2021)

We extended the ability to automatically create device INI files with matching tag names for different controller types. The device driver now additionally supports creation of default tag names for Okuma Standard Lathes, 2-side Lathes, Machining Centers and Grinders. The diver now supports up to 160 Tags per machine.

(3/13/2021)

We released an updated version of our device driver with enhanced functions for controllers equipped with an MTConnect Adapter, either built-in or on a separate PC.

MTCCLIENT.DLL 7.0.0.3 (3/13/2021)

We added the ability to automatically create device INI files with matching tag names for different controller types (Fanuc, Mazak, Okuma). We also added 3 sections that enable to define tag names and values that indicate a faulted machine state. For details see ADJUST ITEMS.

(11/28/2019)

An updated version of our device driver for controllers equipped with an MTConnect Adapter, either built-in or on a separate PC was released.

MTCCLIENT.DLL 6.3.3.0 (11/28/2019)

We added section [AVAILABILITY] to the machine specific INI file. Here you can define a tag name (default ‘avail’) that allows the driver to determine if the controller connected to its MTConnect Adapter is up or down. For details see ADJUST ITEMS
